Why we need your Legal Files:
When you purchase your house, you put your trust in a solicitor to advise you and act in your best interests when making the purchase. So it can be shocking to you now to find that you’re bound by onerous clauses in a lease that could make it almost impossible to sell your home at the price you paid for it.
Although your solicitor did not create the lease, it is their responsibility to let clients know what they are signing up to. Before purchasing your house your solicitor should have made you aware of the exact ground rent figure, if that figure is likely to increase and if the increase will affect your ability to sell your property in the future.
